Australia is certainly a land with rich colours and intense light. The unique landscape is a joy to paint. Although I am mostly overseas, Australia will always be home.

Water is always a soothing topic to paint. Keeps me mellow!

No matter how often you walk the same route, there is always something else to visually discover.

When selecting a hotel, the view is usually my main criteria.
Pencil on Paper
Pencil on Paper (never seen so many satellite dishes)
Pencil on Paper (chose to stay in a hotel room for smokers to gain this view)
Pencil on Paper (rained all day but found a cosy indoor hotel ledge)
Pencil on Paper (every hour another mass production wedding in the hotel foyer)

After witnessing the common sight of grass as a roofing material in Norway, I began a series exploring the different textures of roofing in my travels. Sound weird?

Ink on Paper (drawn at school in Year 12 Art when I was 17 several decades ago)
Pencil on Paper (finished during a Mass ceremony with the lights dimmed to make drawing a challenge!)
Pencil on Paper (nearly got my toes run over by a passing truck while sitting on the narrow footpath. I hurriedly finished as a monsoonal storm approached. Upon returning the next day, the car had disappeared. The older children played marbles in the street between trucks. No gaming on smart phones here 20 years ago)
Pencil on Paper
Pencil on Paper (the tropical mosquitos were unforgiving to this stationary artist)
Pencil on Paper (listened to the young impoverished children, not attending school, recite numbers in at least 10 languages between selling postcards to wandering tourists)
…..
Before being fully captivated by the colours of oil paints, I captured many scenes in our travels with a standard 2B pencil. Enjoy!
Pencil on Paper (angles are not exaggerated!)
